Awards for the art exhibit featuring works by Barton Community College students were presented Sunday at the Shafer Gallery.
First-place winners were: Diane Engle, non-degree-seeking digital imagery and photography; Karen La Pierre, non-degree-seeking oil painting; Gonzalo Gelso, degree-seeking painting; Virginia Bitter, Best of Show 3D; Devon Link, degree-seeking watercolor; Esther Maher, non-degree-seeking sculpture and ceramics; Donna Holl, non-degree-seeking watercolor; Johnita Becker, non-degree-seeking pastel and charcoal; Clarissa Werth, degree-seeking digital imagery and photography; Catherine Nelson, degree-seeking sculpture and ceramics; and Shelby Heier, Best of Show 2D.
The public is encouraged to visit the gallery in the next week to view the student artwork, some of which is available for purchase.
The judge for the exhibit was Fort Hays State art professor Linda Ganstrom, who has a master’s of fine arts degree from FHSU and specializes in ceramics.
