GBHS Debate places two teams and places fourth overall

The Great Bend High School Debate Team competed in their third tournament weekend of competition. They had five debate teams compete at the Buhler debate tournament on Saturday Oct. 13th. Two teams competed in the open division and three in the novice division. One open team placed and one novice team placed. In the open division Michael Gieck and Kameko Schultz placed second with a five and zero win loss record and twenty speaker points. “My partner and I did very well as a team together” Schultz stated. They competed against 46 teams in open division. In the novice division Maddi Bonham and Lesley Galvan placed fourth with a four and one win loss record and twenty speaker points “Lesley and I did an amazing job considering this is our first placing I am proud of both of us” Bonham stated. They competed against 30 teams in novice division. Along with the other three teams of: Kenna Dirks and Kane Schumacher, Rebecca Clark and Kimberly Gonzalez, and Mallorie McNett and Jordan Stoulil they placed fourth overall in sweepstakes out of 21 schools and 76 teams. “I am very pleased the debate team has continued to work hard, practice and they deserve their continued success” stated GBHS debate coach Barbara Watson.
