SCOTT CITY — Two Great Bend High School speech students placed in seven events at the Scott City Forensics/Speech Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Both freshmen students placed in all of the events they competed in. Bayle Sandy placed in hour events. She placed first in Prose Interpretation, third in Impromptu Speaking, fourth in Original Oration, and fifth in Serious Solo Acting.
Patrick Heath placed in three events. He placed fourth in Informative Speaking, Impromptu Speaking and Poetry Interpretation.
Sandy’s first-place finish in Prose Interpretation qualifies her for the State Speech Championship Tournament in May. Heath and Sandy placed fourth overall in team sweepstakes with just a partial entry against 15 schools.
“It was thrilling to place in all four of my events,” Sandy said. “You don’t always have that chance when you’re a freshman and competing with older students.”
