A Great Bend man was arrested on sex charges Saturday after a sting operation where he allegedly thought he was meeting a 15-year-old girl in Great Bend.

Peter Nail, 37, was arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, indecent solicitation of a child and electronic solicitation. He was booked into the Barton County Detention Center with bond set at $1 million.

According to the Great Bend Police Department, members of the GBPD met with members of a MotorCity Justice team around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, in reference to tip information that a Great Bend man was soliciting sex from a 15-year old child. The Great Bend Police Detectives had been working on this investigation with MotorCity Justice for several weeks.

Nail reportedly communicated through a chat log, planning to meet the 15-year-old girl at a location in Great Bend. Members of the GBPD staged in the area of 10th and McKinley until he arrived to pick up the young girl. Officers located Nail when he pulled up and conducted a traffic stop where Nail was placed under arrest.

A MotorCity Justice video was taken shortly after the arrest with an off-camera male who identified himself as Lucian McCloud confronting Nail. It can be found on the MotorCity Justice Facebook page.

A 2019 story about MotorCity Justice by 2Houston.com said McCloud is an alias used to protect the group’s creator from predators who may seek revenge after being exposed during one of his stings.

Fox 2 Detroit reported the Facebook group is powered by volunteers who set up fake profiles on dating apps, respond to conversations with other profiles and reveal themselves to be underage teens. “At a scheduled meet-up spot, the team sets up with cameras and stream the encounters, exposing the person as a potential predator.”

The GBPD reports that an electronic device was seized as evidence, pending search warrants. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information about this case is urged to contact the Great Bend Police Department at 620-793-4120 or Crime Stoppers at 620-792-1300.
