HOISINGTON — At the end of an abbreviated season, Hoisington High School had five students qualified for State Forensics. Miquala Purscell qualified for the State Forensics Championship in Impromptu Speaking and in Serious Solo Acting. Trevan Brown qualified for the State Forensics Championship in Humorous Solo Acting.
Brayden Copp and Jarrett Shives qualified for the State Forensics Festival in Improvised Duet Acting. Karen Lovett qualified for the State Forensics Festival in Humorous Solo Acting.
Coach Marion Oborny named Miquala Purscell as the Outstanding Forensics Student for the team. Trevan Brown earned the Runner-Up Outstanding Forensics Student award. Gibby Hipp was named the Outstanding Novice Forensics Student, and Isaac Burgess earned Runner-up Outstanding Novice Forensics Student.
Trevan Brown, Isaac Burgess, Gibby Hipp, Heavin Hipp, Karen Lovett, Victoria Luttrell, and Miquala Purscell earned forensics letters for the season.
The team says good bye to two seniors, Madison Grandclair and Logan Hammeke. The team also says good bye to Coach Marion Oborny, retiring from coaching debate and forensics after nine years at Hoisington. Drew Reisner, the current assistant coach, will take over as head coach for debate and forensics next year. Mr. Oborny plans to continue to teach at H.H.S.
Hoisington Debate and Forensics hope to have an awards banquet at a later date.
