Hunting accidents reported
gbtribune news

In the past week the Barton County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks have investigated two accidental shootings, Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir said. Both shootings occurred while people were hunting in Barton County. Both of the victims received minor wounds resulting from bird-shot. “The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to please observe safe hunting practices. Know what is beyond your target. Do not shoot through tree rows and shelter belts if people are on the other side. Be mindful that some of the pellets from a shotgun round will go past your target,” Bellendir said. “Hunting is a great Kansas tradition; we wish everybody the best of luck in the sport, but please observes safe hunting practices.”
