Saturday afternoon, April 27, at 2 p.m., the Kansas Authors Club will present a workshop on memoir writing at the Great Bend Public Library, featuring Jim Potter, author of “Cop in the Classroom.” Potter is the president of KAC District 6, which includes Barton and 22 other counties in north central and central Kansas.

Potter will share tips on writing your own memoir, as well as tips on how to get family members to open up about their past for the benefit of posterity.

Potter and other members of the KAC will also be on hand to share about the organization. The Kansas Authors Club has welcomed creative, technical, academic and journalistic writers since 1904.  While magazines and books may be helpful in improving one’s writing skills, there is no substitute for the camaraderie enjoyed or the expertise developed when poets, playwrights and prose writers meet to listen, discuss and analyze their craft in an atmosphere of mutual support.
