The Barton County Historical Society’s Collections Specialist Linda McCaffery will present the program “Bleeding Kansas” in the Ray Schulz Memorial Library at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 17. McCaffery will talk about the people and events during this tumultuous time in Kansas history leading up to the Civil War.
Admission is free for members of the society and $5 for other individuals over 16 wishing to attend the program. Light refreshments will be provided and the bottled water for attendees is provided by Wheatland Electric.
The Barton County Historical Society is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday all year and has summer hours in April through October, from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
