KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Hereford Women Board of Directors recently elected Hereford enthusiast Michelle Beran of Great Bend to its board representing the northwest quadrant of the United State. The quadrant includes Washington, Oregon, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana.
NHW’s mission is to promote Hereford cattle, provide leadership and educational opportunities for Hereford women and youth, and educate cattle breeders and consumers about Hereford cattle.
Beran’s love of Herefords began when as a “town girl” she met and married her husband Craig, an avid Hereford breeder. They run the family operation, B & D Herefords, with Craig’s brothers. Their grown children, John and Bridget, are also involved with the operation.
Beran is an account manager in government accounts for Benefit Management Inc.
Her involvement beyond the farm lies with Kansas Hereford Women, Great Bend Chamber Ambassadors, Barton County Farm Bureau and Barton County Extension Boards, and the Great Bend Farm Show. She also enjoyed Bridget’s two terms as Kansas Hereford Queen.
