Alan Ramahatantsoa, an eighth grader at the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist School, was the winner of a spelling bee on Wednesday at the Midland Seventh-day Adventist Academy in Shawnee, Kansas.

Students from the Kansas-Nebraska Conference from grades 3-8 were invited to participate. Additional students from the Kansas City Metro area and the Central States Union were also invited to participate.

The words chosen were from the 2022 National Spelling Bee.  

Alan was named the Regional Seventh-day Adventist Champion. He is the son of Nary Ramahatantsoa and Dr. Mahefa Ratsimbason of Great Bend.
