LARNED — All members were present for the Jan. 13 meeting of the sorority chapter.
Following the “Tea and Tidbits,” served by the hostess Alice Clapsaddle assisted by Glenna Melkus, President Merlene Baird called for communications. The certificate list from international was reviewed.
Also from international the announcement was for the Beta Sigma Phi International Convention on August 4-7, 2016 at Crown Center, Kansas City, Mo. Attending the 85th anniversary of the sorority will be representatives from all over the world, For additional information go to BetaSigmaPhi.org.
Patty Smith conducted the Beta Book Drill on committee responsibilities. Marcia King announced a card was sent to Connie Carlton and members signed a card for David Clapsaddle. Rosie Rein announced the upcoming social, a Chocolate Fountain and Concert by the Fort Hays State Singers on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 8th and Morris, Larned.
The 2013 Valentine Queen Patty Smith announced the 2014 Valentine Queen is Wadonna King and the dinner and crowning will be on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Reidener Inn in Rozel. Members drew names for the 2014 secret sister exchange.
Janet Skelton presented the program on “In the Mood,’ a tribute to Glen Miller.
During the social hour, the hostesses served raspberry chocolate cake and beverages while listening to the big band sound of the 30s and 40s. The Feb. 10 meeting will be at the home of Wadonna King with Margaret Larson as co-hostess and the program will be presented by Carol Jacob.
