Larned Quilting Bees meet

LARNED — Ann Hicks announced at Tuesday’s meeting that the next meeting will not be until Tuesday, Nov. 29 and members are to bring quick ideas for Christmas gifts.  Demonstrations of the Underground Railroad Sampler and Pioneer Sampler will be presented as well as the fat quarter drawing of angels.
A special edition of the newsletter will be presented at the Christmas party on Dec. 6 which will be a recipe book.  Members should submit their entrees email to Ann Hicks by Dec. 1. 
Additional announcements included a workday Saturday, Nov. 5, five prayer quilts made during the last month, and the Quilting Diva Sale at the Presbyterian Church Nov. 12. 
Thank you notes were read from the Martin and Cole families for prayer quilts and cards and ten minute table runner pattern were presented from Janis Lewis of Poulsbo, Wash. Two variations of Christmas stockings, “Crazy Quilt,” by Pat Knoechel and “Strip Quilt Stocking,” by Eleanor Burns, were demonstrated by Ann Hicks. Members attending received patterns for the stockings and the November/December newsletter.
Show and Tell participants were Mary Weber, Rough Around the Edges quilt top in browns and tans; Jadene Colglazier, scrappy quilt top donated from the Methodist budget shop; Waneta Mausolf, original designed Dresden plate turkey wall hanging; Colleen Wolf, several table runners and table toppers in fall fabrics; and Susan Gray, hot pink and green table topper and gold/green/black/ white poinsettias table topper and scissor holder.

Welcome Inn board meets

LARNED — The regular monthly meeting of the Welcome Inn Leisure Center Inc. was called to order by President Charles Wonsetler at 12:45 p.m. Nov. 2.
In addition to Charles Wonsetler, the following board members were present: Ben Appel, vice president; Betty Tauscher, secretary; Jim Forrest, treasurer; Thelmarie Wilhite, historian; Ernie Ashley, financial secretary; and Roger Haberman, reporter. Guests were Elaine Appel, Amy Bauer and Mona Marie Wysong. Jim Forrest gave the treasurer’s report. All bills were allowed.
Various items were discussed, including the following — garage sale. A sale is likely in early spring. Bus drivers are volunteers with no pay. Drivers go as far as Wichita. A list of possible drivers was developed. The roof is in great need of repair, but monies are not available yet. Some roof areas have been patched recently.
The next carry-in dinner is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 13 with Lila Beltz and Laura Williams the hosts. The carry-in dinner held Oct. 9 was hosted by Charles Wonsetler and Valeta Milhon with a very good crowd and lots of food available.
The meeting adjourned at 1:45 p.m. and next Welcome Inn Leisure Center Inc. meeting is scheduled Dec. 7 at 12:45 p.m.
