SF Trails Days to be discussed Tuesday
LARNED — The Larned Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor an informational meeting for interested parties and organizations to discuss the 2012 Santa Fe Trail Days at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Larned City Hall, 417 Broadway. The meeting will follow Tuesday’s monthly Chamber board meeting at 502 Broadway.
“We need your participation and commitment in making Santa Fe Trail Days a major draw to central Kansas placing Pawnee County and the city of Larned on the map in residences, developers and business owner’s minds,” said Courtland Holman, Courtland Holman, Chamber executive director. “Please come to our Santa Fe Trail Days Meeting to learn, help, or voice your concerns. This is also an opportunity to develop a better fundraiser for your organization.”

Healthcare survey set
LARNED — Pawnee County residents are encouraged to participate in the online community needs assessment currently being conducted by the Pawnee County Health Department and Pawnee Valley Community Hospital.
The survey, which is available through a link on the Pawnee County website at www.pawneecountykansas.com, will ask a series of four questions relating to healthcare in the county. The survey, which is open to all Pawnee County residents, will be open for two to three weeks.
The survey is an addition to the Community Needs Assessment conducted by Vince Vandehaar with VVV Research and Development at a recent town hall meeting at Glory Be in Larned. At the meeting, community leaders and healthcare professionals were asked to attend and give their input toward the future healthcare needs of Pawnee County.

Workshops scheduled
LARNED — In celebration of National Quilting Month, the Pawnee County Quilting Bees are sponsoring short workshops beginning at 1 p.m. at the Jordaan Library through the month of March.
Diann Morell started the presentations with the “10 Minute Block” and “Strip Magic.”
Coleen Wolf will present, “Rough around the Edges,” Thursday, March 15. Virginia Bauer will present, “Easy Circles,” Thursday, March 22. Ann Hicks will present, “Half Square Triangles and Flying Geese,” Thursday March 29.
Demonstrations will include samples and a handout of directions. All presentators are members of the local guild. Interested individuals may call 285-1056 for additional information. The public is invited.
Congressman to visit
Friday afternoon
LARNED — The Larned Area Chamber of Commerce and Pawnee County Economic Development Commission would sponsor a Town Hall meeting at 4:30 p.m. Friday with Congressman Tim Huelskamp at the Chamber of Commerce in the Jordaan Room.
Congressman Huelskamp will be updating Pawnee County on what is happening in Washington and then taking questions. This is your opportunity to become informed and voice your concerns. Coffee, tea and water will be provided.

Fort Larned Lions Club selling tickets
LARNED — Fort Larned Lion Steven Lewis reports the Fort Larned Lions Club is selling tickets for its annual Scholarship Drawing. The proceeds of the tickets sales provides three $500 scholarships to Larned High School seniors. Prizes for the top three drawing winners are a $300, a $200, or a $100 Kroger/Dillons Gift Card, which can also be used at the Kwik Shop. The winners will be drawn on May 7.
