Advance voting held Saturday


LARNED — The Pawnee County clerk’s office will be open for advance voting before Tuesday’s primary election from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pawnee County Courthouse.
Please enter by the west or south doors, and go to second floor of the courthouse. Ruth Searight serves as the Pawnee County clerk.

Commission to meet

LARNED — The Pawnee County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Pawnee County Courthouse.
Agenda items include:
10 a.m. — Kurt Demel, Pawnee County highway administrator, updates.
1:30 p.m. — Denise Wood, Community Corrections/Juvenile Justice Authority, 2012 fiscal year-end outcomes report, 2012 carry-over reimbursement plan.
2:15 p.m. — Rod Wheaton, Pawnee County solid waste supervisor, Department of Corrections contract.

Pawnee Cookbook for sale

LARNED — “Pawsitively Tasty” the Pawnee County Humane Society Cookbook is now available.
You can help homeless animals by purchasing our cookbooks for yourself and/or gifts for your friends and family. A $12 suggested donation.
Contents include 350 recipes submitted by local residents of Pawnee County and the surrounding area with illustrations by Mary Alice Skelton.
Sections include Bits and Bites (Appetizers and Beverages); Whisker Lickin’ Good (Soups and Salads); Purrfect Partners (Vegetables and Sides); Beggin’ for Dinner (Main Dishes); Belly Rubbin (Breads and Rolls); Tail Waggin’ Treats (Desserts and Cakes); Good n’ Yummy (Cookies and Candies); The Paw Patch (Treats for Cats and Dogs).
“We rely on donations and fundraising activities for our financial support,” said Donna Morgan. “Every penny raised goes toward our building fund, pays for veterinary expenses, food and shelter for the lost and homeless animals in our community.”
