Quilting Bees meet
LARNED — The Quilting Guild met Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
Melvina Prescott won the farm animals fat quarters. The September fat quarter drawing will be on kitchen items. Thank you notes were read from Lavada Kraft of Great Bend and Reed Peters of Larned. Donations of patterns, fabric, and books have been received from Becky Obermiller, Ann Hicks, Gladys Salmans and Sheila Scheibmeier.
Saturday will be a workday at the church starting at 8:30 a.m. There will be a quilt workshop at BCCC from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 for beginners and those interested may call the college for additional information.
Once again Pat Knoechel will present a workshop at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the First Presbyterian Church of Great Bend and sponsored by the Central Threadbenders Quilt Guild.
Featured at the presentation will be quilts from “Tales of the First Ladies.” Jordaan Library will present “Country Schools of Pawnee County” from 12:10 to 12:50 Sept. 7. There will be a $3 lunch charge.
Show and Tell participants were Diann Morell, baby quilt top and Becky Obermiller, sampler quilt top.
Connie Ratliff and Merlene Baird will be taking quilts to the Kansas State Fair. The next regular meeting will be on Sept. 4.
Republicans to meet
LARNED — The Pawnee County Republican Central Committee will hold a reorganizational Meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Pawnee County Courthouse Lounge.
Larned items on the agenda will include election of officers and delegates for the ensuing term. All Precinct and Township committee men and committee women are invited to participate. All Republicans and interested persons are welcome to attend.
