Chamber coffee scheduled
LARNED — Country Place Senior Living, 714 W. 9th Street, will be the site for Thursday’s Larned Chamber of Commerce coffee from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Country Place Living will celebrate National Assisted Living Week.
Diabetes group to meet
LARNED — The Diabetes Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Welcome Inn Senior Center, 113 W. 4th Street. Guest speaker Mary Beth Herrmann, Pawnee County health department director, will explain the diabetic services available in Pawnee County.
Pawnee Republicans elect officers
LARNED — The Pawnee County Republican Central Committee met Aug. 30, with 24 township-precinct leaders electing officers for the upcoming 2-year term.
Officers elected were Stan Bryant, chairman; Paula Carr, vice chair; Bill Fleske, secretary; and Carol Gingrich, treasurer. Bryant and Carr will serve as delegates to the the Kansas First District. Doug Nord and Teddy Gingrich were elected as alternate delegates. Paula Carr has served as a Kansas state delegate for the past two years, and will run for re-election in December.
It was decided that the Pawnee County Republicans will once again host a German dinner for a fundraising event on Saturday , Oct. 27, at the Larned Community Center. Tickets will be available from Judi Tabler or any township-precinct leader.

Fundraiser scheduled
LARNED — Prairie Treasures, the horticulture therapy workshop at the Larned State Hospital Greenhouse will spnsor a fall plant and craft sSale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the LSH greenhouse. Featured items will include fall crafts, wreaths, decorative pumpkins, scarecrows, and foliage plants.
Saturday show added
LARNED — Larned’s State Theatre is bringing back the Saturday afternoon matinee beginning Sept. 22 through Nov. 10. The matinee will start at 2 p.m.
The first 50 paid admissions for the Sept. 22 and Sept. 29 matinees will receive a free medium drink at the concession stand. Ticket prices range from $3 to $6.
The main feature movie each week will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
Theater dinner Sept. 22
LARNED — Prairie Arts Unlimited is sponsoring Larned High School’s Over Actors Anonymous dinner theater Sept. 22, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Scenic Drive.
Social hour begins at 6 p.m., with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m. “Ax of Murder,” will begin at 7 p.m. For ticket information, contact any Prairie Arts Unlimited member.
Registration required
LARNED — Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Laboratory will be implementing a new registration process effective Oct. 1. They are requesting that all patients, including Lab One patients, stop at the front desk to register for any lab work, prior to going to the laboratory. For information, call (620) 285-3161.
4-H fundraiser starts
LARNED — Pawnee County 4-H members are selling Red Wheel braids, pizzas, burritos, egg rolls, cookie dough, pies, cheesecakes, pretzels, and mini tacos. These products are frozen.
4-H members using money from these fund raisers to finance the 4-H council and the 4-H clubs. The 4-Hers are taking orders.
For information, call (620) 285-6901 by Oct. 11. Pick-up of orders will be Oct. 24, at the J.A. Haas Exhibit Building from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Extra items may be purchased at the pick-up point if those who don’t place orders.
