LSH to sponsor picnic

LARNED — The Larned State Hospital will sponsor its annual employee and family picnic Saturday at the J. A. Haas Building. Games and activities run from 2 to 8 p.m. A meal will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. All LSH retirees are welcome to attend.

Tea party is Saturday

ROZEL — Caring Hearts will sponsor a Ladies Tea Party from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rozel Community Building. The gathering will feature a presentation about “Hats Off To Women, a hat contest, tea trivia, a brunch, a presentation about tea cups and prizes.

Pumpkin Patch event Sunday

LARNED — The Sandstone Pumpkin Patch, 914 W. 2nd, welcomes the community at 2 p.m. for family pumpkin picking and a Wisconsin-style fish feed at 4:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Orphan Grain Train and Grace Lutheran Ministries.

Welcome Inn board meets

LARNED — The annual Welcome Inn Leisure Center, Inc. was held Wednesday preceding the noon meal.
Charles Wonsetler, president, welcomed everyone. Jim Forrest, treasurer, gave each a copy of the financial report for the past year and explained several items in the report.
Secretary Betty Tauscher discussed some of the activities that have taken place this past year at the Welcome Inn.
Wonsetler announced that an election would be held to fill four positions on the board of directors. There were two candidates for each position. Ben Appel was selected to replace Marylee Phinney as vice-president. Phinney’s term had expired and she decided to not run for another term. Incumbents Jim Forrest, Betty Tauscher and Thelmarie Whilite were re-elected.
More than 30 people enjoyed the noon meal.

Pets are calendar winners

LARNED — The Pawnee County Humane Society has determined the winners of the annual Pet Calendar Contest.
Winners were Ace (cover), Katie, Zoe (cat), Tex and Tatem, Sammie, Ghost, Bogey, Tommy Joe, Lady, Gus, Millie, Jade and Fuzzy. Featured in the centerfold will be Brody/Willie/Sparky, Harriet, Penelope and Buddy.
“There were many wonderful entries in the third annual calendar contest.  The judges had a difficult time choosing the winners,” said Donna Morgan. “We appreciated everyone who voted on their favorite pictures. We enjoyed all the entries and we think they are all winners. Thank you to everyone who entered this year’s contest. Congratulations to our winners.”
