County to meet Monday

LARNED — The Pawnee County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Pawnee County Courthouse.
Agenda items include:
9 a.m. — Larned city election canvass.
10 a.m. — Courtland Holman, Larned chamber director, Santa Fe Trail days request.
10:45 a.m. — Kathy Rondeau, Pawnee County Conservation district manager, and Matt Meyerhoff, National Resources Conservation District, soil conservationist.
1:30 p.m. — Rod Wheaton, Pawnee County solid waste supervisor, updates.

The Quilting Bees meet

LARNED — The Quilting bees guild met Tuesday in the fellowship hall of the Larned’s Presbyterian Church.  
A thank you note was sent from Debby Gore, Jordaan librarian for the recent presentations by members for National Quilting Month.  
A thank you note was received for the prayer quilt given to Juli Welsch.  
Members presented Myrna Cannon with a green and white prayer quilt.  Ann Hicks reminded members of the gingham and denim stash the guild has available for piecing. The fat quarter drawing for the April 17 meeting will be “tulips.” Ann Hicks presented a block demonstration from the Pioneer Sampler and Underground Sampler quilt projects.
Show and Tell participants were Susan Gray, quilt top of Modern Log Cabin in aqua and orange; Becky Obermiller, John Deere and Four Seasons quilt top in blues and greens and stash in cream and greens for future quilt; Opal Macy, two Underground and Pioneer finished blocks; Lavada Kraft, baby quilt top of Modern Log Cabin in pastels and a vintage top from 1940s feed sacks; Mary Weber, brown and pink quilt throw; Coleen Wolf, Star table runner and a purple and off white quilt top in Modern Log Cabin design; Alice Clapsaddle, three chicken wall hangings and potholder from vintage fabric; and Connie Ratliff, quilt featuring flying geese from Tumbleweed fabrics.   

Endowment sale April 11

LARNED — The Larned State Hospital Endowment Association will sponsor an Everything $6 fund raising jewelry and accessories sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 11. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The sale is scheduled at the LSH auditorium near the center of the LSH grounds. Proceeds will benefit the LSH Endowment Association, which has the mission of enhancing patient care at Larned State Hospital.
Most items except specially priced show specials will be $6. A Kansas company B&N Jewelry assists with the sale with items marked up to  80 percent off retail prices.

City cleanup April 14

LARNED — The Larned City Wide Clean Up is scheduled Saturday, April 14. Pick up begins at 7 a.m., and there will only be curbside pick-up.
Copies of the clean up guidelines are available at the Larned City Office, Doerr’s Ace Hardware, Wilson Lumber and The Tiller & Toiler. For questions, call (620) 285-8555.
