All-Class Reunion plans float
LARNED — The Larned All Class Reunion committee will enter a Larned High School Homecoming float Friday afternoon. Anyone is welcome to ride on the float. A float building committee planned the float at the Fertilizer Department of the Pawnee County Co-op.

Benefit dinner planned
ZOOK — A benefit dinner for Linda Parr from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Zook Community Building. The menu will feature hamburgers and hotdogs, a variety of side dishes and homemade desserts, for a free will donation. There will also be drawings for prizes. To donate items for the drawings, call Kathy Hammeke at 285-9080. All proceeds will help defray Parr’s medical expenses.
‘2016’ movie to be
shown this weekend
LARNED — The movie “2016, Obama’s America,” will be playing at the Larned State Theater at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday and at 2 p.m. Saturday.
“2016, Obama’s America,” is a 2012 documentary by Dinesh D’Souza, a conservative author and commentator. The film was produced by Gerald R. Molen. D’Souza and John Sullivan co-directed and co-wrote the film, which is based on D’Souza’s 2010 book, “The Roots of Obama’s Rage.”
Through interviews and re-enactments, the film compares the similarities of the lives of D’Souza and President Barack Obama as D’Souza presents his theory of how early influences on Obama are affecting the decisions he makes as president.
Quilting Bees meet
LARNED — Seventeen members of the guild met recently at the Larned Presbyterian Church.
President Ann Hicks announced a fabric sale at Prairie Flower Crafts in Alden on Sept. 27-29 and a “One Block” class Saturday at Country Fabrics at Pleasantview.
Several car loads of members attended the Pat Knoechel demonstration at Great Bend sponsored by theThreadbenders quilters.
Congradulations to Connie Ratliff and Merlene Baird who submitted their quilts to the Kansas State Fair with Baird receiving a red ribbon.
New member Joyce Burnum and visitor Debbie Berkley were welcomed by the group. Ann Hicks reviewed several quilt blocks that members are currently construsting from the Wagon Wheel pattern.. The sixth annual Quilting Diva sale will be Saturday, Nov. 10.
Show and Tell participants were Myrna Cannon, “Travel” fabric from California; Coleen Wolf, two wallhangings; Alice Clapsaddle, “School” quilt in a bag; Carol Tims, fall wallhanging; Susan Gray, sampler quilt top and backing and “Exploding Pineapple” quilt top donated to guild for prayer quilts and a quilted handbag and camera holder bag; Ann Hicks, “LOVE” wall hanging, “ Red Barn” child’s quilt, table runner, Prarie Land Foods wall hanging, and Halloween Pillow given by Virginia Bauer.
