Making a personal connection at your public library
The Book Nook

One of the most important aspects of the library’s service is our personal connection to the Great Bend community. This connection allows us to offer services to the people of Great Bend and the surrounding areas in ways that are most helpful and meaningful to them. The key to this connection is our library staff. Once per month, I will be featuring a library staff member in “The Book Nook” to highlight, so that you as a community can get to know us better. I am starting with our longest-tenured staff member, Jerri Collins, and will be moving from longest tenure to our more new staff members. Thank you for allowing us to serve the Great Bend community!

Q: How long have you worked at the library?

A: I will be starting my 18th year very soon.

Q: What is your favorite thing about your job?

A: Helping patrons with a variety of questions and subjects. I love finding the needle in the haystack.

A: Gardening

Q: What is the coolest thing you are working on right now at work?

A: Food-based [library] programs.

A: A variety, depending upon my mood or what mood I want to be in.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote?

A: ‘Grace is getting what you don’t deserve, while mercy is NOT getting what you deserve. Don’t deny either.’

Q: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

A: Speak, read and write multiple languages.
