Man arrested for selling stolen firearm

According to the Hoisington Police Department, on March 23 they the recovered a stolen firearm from the rash of auto burglaries that occurred in January 2016.
A Hoisington Officer went undercover and purchased the firearm in Russell, after it was discovered for sale on Nextech Classifieds.
The Russell County Sheriff’s Office and Russell Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Richard Heaton immediately after the stolen firearm purchase where he was arrested.
Search warrants were later executed at Heaton’s residence as well as the vehicle Heaton was in at the time of the stolen firearm purchase.
Heaton’s formal charges include two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, conspiracy to commit criminal possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property.
