The Central Kansas Dream Center plans to offer free ultrasounds for pregnant mothers at its Moment of Grace Pregnancy Clinic, located in the CKDC (centralkansasdreamcenter.org) at 2100 Broadway Ave., Great Bend. The clinic will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 12.
During that time, pregnant women can receive free ultrasounds provided by Linda Pieschl, RN BS MHA. To reserve a time slot, call her at 620-639-1744
Women must be at least 6 weeks pregnant to receive this service.
Team members will be available to give tours and answer questions about the pregnancy clinic at this come-and-go event, which is open to the public. There will be free refreshments.
Moment of Grace was the vision of Teresa Dutton, said Michelle Gwin, who put together a team of spiritual counselors for this ministry. The mission of Moment of Grace is to provide expecting parents with lasting hope for wellness in life, mind, body and spirit.
The consultations start with a counselor praying with the woman. “We want to connect her to Jesus,” Gwin said. They also want to find out what her needs are.
“Our hope and prayer is that they make life-affirming decisions,” she said. “We want to be there with help with resources.”
In addition to ultrasounds, they offer free pregnancy tests, as well as baby clothing and supplies. They can help pregnant women find other resources as needed.
A new service
Moment of Grace has been in the planning stages for some time but its first appointments will be during the open house.
“We’ve been trying to get it up and running,” Pieschl said, describing March 12 as a practice day. She must finish 75 ultrasounds on the equipment used at the clinic. This week she was performing ultrasounds at Choices Medical Clinic in Wichita and she’s also been doing them in Hutchinson. It’s not that she lacks clinical experience, however. Pieschl, who moved to Great Bend last year, has 32 years of experience as a labor and delivery nurse and was director of a women’s hospital in Oklahoma City.
