Annual car show roars to park

 Rev those engines, the 27th-annual Mid-America Mopars Car Show is set for Sunday, May 3, at Brit Spaugh Park, come rain or shine.

The show opens with registration at 9 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m. at the park. There will be music all day, an “engine blow” at 3 p.m. and an awards presentation at 4 p.m.

Entry fee is $20 per vehicle before Sunday and $25 after that, $5 of which will be donated to the Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation. Participants must be registered by Sunday to be eligible to win a set of tires.

There is no charge for spectators.

The show is open to classics of all makes and vintages, motorcycles, pickups, tuners, race cars and imports. Public viewing begins at noon. There will also be food available and live entertainment. 

The event is expected to attract more than 100 classic cars from Kansas and surrounding states. Those showing their cars will vote for first-, second- and third-place winners in each category, and best of show.
