Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament to be held
HOISINGTON —Everyone 21 and over is invited to play in a Texas Hold’Em Poker tournament to raise funds for area charities.  The tournament will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Hoisington Knights of Columbus Hall, 114 North Main.  

Cheyenne Bottoms During World War II presentation to be held
ELLINWOOD —Everyone is invited to a presentation about the Cheyenne Bottoms During World War II presentation by Karen Newforth.  It is Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Heritage Center, 103. N. Main in Ellinwood.  
She will tell the story or the uses of Cheyenne Bottoms during the 1940s including activities as a practice bombing range.  Of course, some of the area kids delighted in watching it all happen and later searched for shells. Refreshments will be served. Newforth is a researcher with the Barton County Historical Society in Great Bend.
