Hoisington’s Labor Day Weekend celebration will kick-off with the community barbecue from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Lebert Park, north of First Kansas Bank. This year, there will be a tent. Tickets are $5 and are available at the Hoisington Chamber of Commerce and the Hoisington Dairy Queen.

Enjoy a choice of a hamburger, hotdog or bratwurst with coleslaw, baked beans, chips and ice cream. Iced tea, lemonade and water will also be served.

Also in Lebert Park during the barbecue, will be the Great Bend Riverbend 5 plus 1 Dixieland Band.

And for added entertainment Friday evening, the Kansas Wetlands Education Center will present "Wetland Wonders." From insects to mammals, Cheyenne Bottoms is home to many interesting creatures.

Stop by the Hoisington Welcome Center at 115 N Main to view some of Cheyenne Bottoms inhabitants and listen to their stories.
