There are new books at the Ellinwood Community/School Library. They are:

"Bossypants" by Tina Fey. Comedian and writer Tina Fey shares her life story and her many opinions in this hilarious memoir. She reveals all, and proves what everyone suspects: you’re no one until someone calls you bossy!

"The Scent of Rain and Lightning" by Nancy Pickard. The man who murdered Jody Linder’s father twenty-three years ago is being released from prison, and is returning to the small Kansas town where the tragedy happened. Her mother also disappeared that fateful night, and is presumed dead. As Jody revisits old wounds, startling revelations compel her to uncover the dangerous truth about her family’s tragic past.

"Dreams of Joy" by Lisa Dee. This is the story of sisters Pearl and May and Pearl’s strong-willed nineteen-year-old daughter, Joy. When reeling from newly uncovered family secrets, Joy angrily runs away to Shanghai to find her birth father. But it is 1967, and when Joy throws herself into the New Society of Red China, heedless of the dangers in the Communist regime, Pearl becomes determined to save her daughter no matter the personal cost.

"She Makes It Look Easy" by Marybeth Whalen. After Ariel Baxter moved to the neighborhood of her dreams, she befriends Justine, the perfect wife and mother, who introduces her to a world of clutter-free houses and neighborhood playdates. But when rumors start to circulate about Justine’s real home life, Ariel must consider the possibility that "perfection" isn’t always what it seems to be.

"When Passion Rules" by Johanna Lindsey. Forced to flee Napoleon’s rampaging army on the continent, orphaned Alana Farmer and her eccentric guardian make a new home for themselves in London. Now, on the eve of her debut into London Society, she learns the shocking truth of her birthright. Is she really the lost princess of a European kingdom, and can she really quell a bloody revolt in a homeland she has never even visited?

"The Union Quilters" by Jennifer Chiaverini. A powerful tale of love and sacrifice during the Civil War is the next installment in the Elm Creek quilt series. While the women hope, pray, and quilt at home, the men they love confront loneliness, boredom, and harrowing danger on the bloody battlefields of Virginia and Pennsylvania.
