The Ellinwood High School Forensics Team competed at the Kiowa County Invitational in Greensburg on Saturday, Feb. 18. Ellinwood earned a plaque for 2nd place in team sweepstakes and earned 10 individual medals. Nineteen schools participated in the meet.

EHS captured the top three spots in Original Oration, with Jenna Snell placing 1st, Connor Birzer placing 2nd, and Tawny Arndt placing 3rd. Birzer and partner Hannah Maddy also placed 1st in Duet Acting. Maddy placed 3rd in Humorous Solo Acting.

Snell placed 2nd in Informative Speaking, followed by teammates Rachel Doll (3rd) and Rachel Schloctermeier (4th). Hannah Billinger placed 3rd in Poetry Interpretation.

Jenna Collins, Damon Fisk, Shiani Hughes, Megan Orndoff, and Jesse Zamarippa also contributed to the team sweepstakes.

The team competed at Southeast of Saline on Feb. 11, earning a trophy for 3rd place in team sweepstakes and eight individual medals. Leading the team was Connor Birzer and Hannah Maddy, who won Duet Acting. Additionally, Birzer placed 2nd in Original Oration and Maddy placed 2nd in Humorous Solo Acting. Rachel Schloctermeier placed 4th in Informative Speaking. First-time medalists included Rachel Doll (3rd, Informative Speaking), Tawny Arndt (3rd, Original Oration), and Damon Fisk (6th, Humorous Solo Acting.) Jenna Collins, Megan Orndoff, and Jesse Zamarippa also contributed to the team’s sweepstakes. The students are coached by Julie Ann Jacobs and assisted by Angela Petersen.
