Ellinwood forensics places in tournament

ELLINWOOD — The Ellinwood Forensics team earned a sweepstakes trophy for 1st place at the Great Bend Invitational held on Feb. 9. Eight schools attended the meet.
Out of the nine individual events, Ellinwood won four:  Connor Birzer placed 1st in Extemporaneous Speaking, Hannah Billinger placed 1st in Poetry Interpretation, and Rachel Schloctermeier won both Informative Speaking and Original Oration.
Additionally, Jenna Collins and Tawny Arndt placed 2nd in Duet Acing. Stephanie Troyer placed 2nd in Poetry Interpretation and 3rd in Prose Interpretation.  Billinger placed 2nd in Informative Speaking.  
Hannah Maddy placed 6th in Prose Interpretation and 4th in Original Oration.  Birzer also placed 3rd in Original Oration.  Josiah Caspers placed 5th in Informative Speaking.
The team competes at Kiowa County next weekend.  The students are coached by Julie Ann Jacobs and Angela Petersen.
