ELLINWOOD — The Ellinwood KAY Club, which is an organization which builds leadership and character in high schools, recently participated in Citizenship Week.

For several days, the students performed several activities.

Starting at the beginning of the week, the students brought baked goods for the faculty.

On Tuesday, they took Community Christmas Cards to Woodhaven.

Wednesday, the group donated a gift for a girl listed on the Hope Tree.

The group also collected change from the faculty and staff to donate to Star of Hope.

They also helped the staff clean up after a basketball game.

Citizenship Week is a celebration of our heritage with designated service days celebrated annually in December.

KAY Club also sponsors the Little Buddies program with the Ellinwood Grade School second graders so that they can get to know each other, said Julie Blakeslee. The high schoolers and the grade schoolers The Club is sponsored by Blakeslee and Kelsie Harmon.
