Ellinwood swimming pool to get new pool slide

ELLINWOOD — The Ellinwood swimming pool will get a new slide for the smaller children this summer

The city council authorized City Administrator Robert Peter to spend up to $9,000 for the slide at its meeting Tuesday.

Fire Chief Christ Komarek was presented with a service award for his years of service to Ellinwood. He has worked for the city for 30 years.

The property at 106 E. B street was found to be as unsafe , dangerous or dilapidated and should be demolished.

Bids were received for demolition of the property at 414 E. 4th. The low bid was submitted by Stone Sand Co. for $4800 and one day’s work time was approved by the council. The city will be reimbursed for $4800.

Barton County will place an antenna on the south water tower as a part of the ongoing upgrades to Barton County’s dispatch system. The County is planning on going to a narrow band radio system.

In final business, the council:

•Authorized Sunflower Bank, Community Bank of the Midwest as the legal depositories. Bank of the West will be designated subject to approval of the auditors.

•Authorized the Ellinwood Leader as the official newspaper.

•Elected Irlan Flullbright as president of the council

•Swore in Councilmembers Gail Nielsen and Fullbright along with Mayor Frank Koelsch.
