CLAFLIN — Four Barton county boys dealing with childhood cancer will benefit from the 6th annual Fall Fun Festival held Sun., Oct. 2 at the farm of Kyle and Melinda Kasselman.

On the warm, fall, Sunday afternoon, children, parents and grandparents gathered at the parking lot of Central Plains High School to ride a school bus 3 short miles to the Kasselman farm for an afternoon filled with activities. There were games to play, ducks to race, steers to rope, faces to be painted, hay to jump in, horses pulling wagons and carts to ride in, a barrel train to ride, bounce houses to bounce in, candy to scramble for, a clown to make balloon animals, homemade goodies to munch, hamburgers and hotdogs to feast on, llamas and alpacas to pet, puppies, bunnies and baby ducks to hold, calves and pigs to see, pumpkins to choose, and LOTS of fun to be had....and ALL for the benefit of Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation.

The Fall Fun Festival, the brainchild of 13-year-old Kylee Kasselman, began 6 years ago when young Kylee wanted to hold a little festival for her family and friends at her farm to celebrate her 8th birthday. Tickets were sold for 50 cents with all the proceeds going to Kans for Kids. The event has grown rapidly in 6 years and now involves countless volunteers and a very dedicated Kasselman family. Over 550 people attended this years event.

According to Kans for Kids director, Debbie Reif, "We can’t begin to thank the Kasselman family, all of the volunteers, sponsors, and all of the wonderful children and families that came out to support this event. It was another outstanding, fun-filled day that will help some very special kids living with cancer, both now and in the future."

Kans for Kids is currently providing assistance to Dade Cannon, Aaron Fryberger and Kaito Richter of Great Bend, and Tanner Blackwell of Hoisington.
