House fire occurs July 3

HOISINGTON — A house fire occurred at 450 W. 4th in Hoisington at 12:15 a.m. on July 3.

The fire department responded, and found a fire on the second floor of the residence.

A closet between two bedrooms was on fire, according to Hoisington Fire Chief Jim Sekavec.

The fire was primarily limited to the closet, but the second floor received heavy smoke and heat damage. The first floor received water damage, but is still habitable,, said Sekavec.

The fire department was on the scene for three hours. The owner was not at home at the time.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
