Barton County children living with cancer will benefit from the recent Kans for Kids Hamburger Hotdog Feed hosted by the men of the Hoisington Knights of Columbus. The annual event was held on Aug. 7. According to organizers, Paul Woydziak and Gloria Adams, the event was another huge success. A large crowd enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs with scalloped potatoes, roasted corn on the cob, cookies and pop (in cans, of course). Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation provides emotional and financial assistance for children in Barton County who are living with cancer. The organization is currently assisting four boys: Tanner Blackwell, 12, Hoisington, is currently being treated for leukemia (AML) at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas; 7-year-old Dade Cannon and 14-year-old Aaron Fryberger, Great Bend, are both undergoing treatment for leukemia (ALL) in Kansas City; and 2-year-old Kaito Richter, Great Bend, is undergoing treatment in Wichita for a Ewings Sarcoma in his thigh. Since its inception in 1994, Kans for Kids has assisted 25 Barton County children, three from Ellinwood, fourteen from Great Bend, and eight from Hoisington.
