Wilborn named as new council member

Brian Wilborn takes the oath of office at the Hoisington City Council meeting Monday. He is the new council member for Ward 4 after the resignation of Don Gordon.

HOISINGTON — Brian Wilborn was voted in as the new Hoisington City Council member for Ward 4 at the city’s regular meeting on Monday after a vote by the sitting members.

Three individuals had expressed interest in the position. They were Wilborn, Gary Shook and Shannon Stevens. The three answered questions from the council. They had also written letters of interest prior to the meeting.

During the interview, Wilborn said that he has had experience with economic development in professional career. He is excited bout the things going on in Hoisington. After more discussion, Wilborn was voted in by a majority of the council.

"I will do my best to represent my Ward and do what’s right for Hoisington," he said after the meeting. He is not planning to run for election in April.

In other business, the council passed a resolution determining that the structure at 569 W. Third St. is dangerous, unsafe or unfit for human use or habitation. The owner is given until Dec. 7 to commence repair or removal of the structure. City Code Enforcer Don Doerschlag informed that council that no improvements had been made on the structure.

In final business, the city adopted an audit proposal from Adams Brown Beran & Ball for 2011, 2012 and 2013.
