Street work was moving ahead quickly as the new work week began Monday, according to City Engineer Robert Winiecke.
Work began Monday with pavement milling, because it was too wet to mill and overlay, Winiecke noted.
Locations where pavement work will be done this week will include 10th Street between McKinley and Kennedy streets; K-96 between 12th Street and the north city limits: Main Street between Railroad Avenue and 10th Street and between 19th and 24th streets; and Washington between Eighth and 10th streets and between 10th and 12th streets.
He said Monday afternoon that milling — grinding down the old asphalt — will be followed by the pavement work.
“Work will consist of the placement of a new 5/8 inch thick asphaltic surface course and pavement restriping,” the city engineer reported earlier.
Winiecke noted the work is going on in busy areas, and the workers will need drivers to watch out for them. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as these improvements are made to these streets within our community,” he said earlier, adding that any questions can be directed to him at 793-4111.
