Both sixth-grade Panther Western Kansas Football League football teams raised $2,170 through pink-out T-shirt sales and donations for the Heartland Cancer Center.
They presented the check to Jamie Hutchinson from the center following their games Saturday afternoon. “We wanted the boys to give back to the community,” said Kim Griffith, a parent of one of the players.
The players sold 401 shirts in two weeks at $12 a piece, of which $4.50 went to the center. There were also other contributions.
The players also wore pink socks.
During the games Saturday, Panther Black won against McPherson 2 26-0. Panther Red lost in overtime 12-18 in overtime.
