HHS debaters third at Moundridge

HOISINGTON — Hoisington High School debaters Nick Doerschlag and Seth Colson placed third in the novice division at the recent Moundridge debate tournament.  They earned a 4-1 record, defeating teams from Dodge City, Junction City, Sterling, and Salina-South.  They lost to a Great Bend team.
Also competing in the novice division, Alicia Earegood and Brendan Day earned a 1-4 record.  They defeated a team from Wichita-Collegiate, but lost to another Collegiate team and teams from Great Bend, Sterling, and Buhler.
In the open division, Robbie Willesden and Elizabeth Lacey earned a 1-4 record.  They defeated a Buhler team, but lost to teams from Salina-South, Remington, Dodge City, and Pratt.
The Cardinals placed fifth overall out of 17 schools.
In earlier action at McPherson in the novice division, Nick Doerschlag and Alicia Earegood earned a 1-4 record.  They defeated a Lyons team, but lost to teams from Salina-Central, Clay Center, Valley Center, and Emporia.
In earlier action at the Central Kansas League tournament at Sterling College, Logan McHenry and Corbin Crawford earned a 2-2 record.  They defeated two Pratt teams, but lost to teams from Nickerson and Haven.  
Robbie Willesden and Elizabeth Lacey had an 0-4 record, losing to teams from Sterling, Haven, Larned, and Lyons.
Brendan Day, Nick Doerschlag, Alicia Earegood, Dustin Edmonson, Ben Schneider, Seth Colson, and Logan McHenry attended a Fort Hays State University philosophy department debate workshop in October.
Invitational action for the Cardinals continues at TMP-Marian in Hays, Sacred Heart in Salina, Trinity in Hutchinson, and Pratt.  
Regional Debate will be at Sacred Heart in Salina, and State Debate will be at El Dorado.
