The Barton County Historical Society will host its annual car show from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. Rolling Sculpture 2014 will be held on the grounds of the historical village, located south of Great Bend’s Arkansas River bridge on U.S. 281.
Several area car clubs have been invited, said Beverly Komarek, executive director of the Barton County Historical Society Museum and Village. Every entry will have an opportunity to win a variety of prizes, donated by business and individuals in the community. The Schulz Library at the museum will have early films taken when the National Hot Rod Association had its first national drag races in the country at Great Bend’s historic Sunflower Rod and Custom Association drag strip.
Other exhibits will be available. Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase from Whitetail Concessions.
“This is an open house and everybody is encouraged to attend,” Komarek said. There is no admission charge.
Parking at the back of the museum will be provided for visitors.
