Police searching for armed individual near Hoisington

HOISINGTON — The Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Barton County Sheriff Department and the Hoisington Police Department are searching for a white male last seen on the north side of Hoisington on Sunday morning.
“The suspect at large is considered armed and dangerous,” said Brian Bellendir, Barton County Sheriff. Hoisington residents are advised to keep all outbuildings locked and be vigilant. Citizens are warned not to try to apprehend the individual themselves, but to call 911 with any information.
The suspect, 34, has brown hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weights 210 pounds and is covered in tattoos, said Bellindir. He is wanted out of Virginia on a parole violation involving weapons by the U. S. Marshals.
The incident began this morning at 9:36 a.m. when the suspect’s vehicle was located on U.S. Highway 281. A high speed chase began which lasted for fourteen minutes followed around Hoisington , said Bellendir.
The Hoisington Police Department deployed stop sticks on Susank Road as the individuals headed south and stopped the vehicle. The suspect and one more individual fled on foot.
Jonas Grub, 28,  of Great Bend, a white male, was apprehended and arrested. Grub was wanted on two Great Bend municipal warrants and two Barton County District warrants.
