Great Bend Boy Scouts spent most of the day Saturday making noodles for their 43rd annual Chili and Chicken Noodle Soup Dinner, set for Feb. 2 at the Elks Lodge.
The work got underway at 9 a.m. and continued well into the afternoon. Scoutmaster Kenton Abbott said the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Troop and Pack 184 started with 40 dozen eggs and 200 pounds of flour. The assembly line moved from the kitchen, where dough was mixed, to tables where it was rolled to the desired thickness, to pasta cutters, where the dough was turned into noodles. Long tables were covered with sheets of white paper, where the pasta was set out to dry. Workers will return today to bag the noodles.
The annual fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, will feature homemade soup and desserts served by scouts, all for $7. Abbott said scouts are selling tickets but they’ll also be available at the door for dining in or carry-out orders. Scouts will also be sell chili by the gallon for $20, and chicken noodle soup for $14 a gallon.

To place an order call Abbott, 620-617-6833.

“Money earned by boys selling tickets pays for summer camp,” Abbott noted.
