Unclaimed property program coming to area cities

The office of Kansas State Treasurer Ron Estes will offer the opportunity for people to check for unclaimed property — such as refunds from utilities — by sponsoring an "Unclaimed Property on the Road" program.

Staff will be available at 4 p.m. today at the Rice County Courthouse in Lyons and 6:30 p.m. today at the Stafford County Courthouse in St. John.

On Wednesday the program will be held at 8 a.m. at the Larned Area Chamber of Commerce, 502 Broadway, Larned; at 10:30 a.m. at the Edwards County Courthouse in Kinsley; at 1 p.m. at the Hodgeman County Courthouse in Jetmore; at 3:30 p.m. at the Rush County Courthouse in La Crosse; and at 6 p.m. at the Hays Public Library, 1205 Main St., in Hays.

On Thursday, programs will be at 8 a.m. at the Russell County Courthouse in Russell and at 10:30 a.m. at the Ellsworth Senior Center, 115 E. North Main St., Ellsworth. From there the tour will continue to communities outside of central Kansas.

The service is free and open to the public.
