GLADSTONE, Mo.  — A Texas woman accused in the shooting death of a psychiatrist in suburban Kansas City, Mo., Friday was taken into custody in Kansas. The shooting occurred after the alleged shooter and her husband of Lyons underwent a marriage counseling session in Great Bend with the dead woman with whom the husband was said to be having an affair.
Shannon L. O’Roark Griffin, 52, of Granbury, Texas, was charged Saturday in Clay County, Mo., with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Dr. Irina Puscariu of Gladstone, Mo., according to court records.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Gladstone police, O’Roark Griffin shot Puscariu three times at the psychiatrist’s home Friday afternoon after her husband said he would not end their affair. O’Roark Griffin then called her husband, Roscoe L. Griffin, and told him what she had done. Roscoe Griffin called the police.
The Kansas Highway Patrol arrested O’Roark Griffin Friday evening near Wichita. She was being held Monday in the Sedgwick County jail without bond and was awaiting extradition to Missouri.
Court records did not indicate if Griffin has a lawyer, and a telephone number listed under her name had apparently been disconnected. The Clay County prosecutor’s office was closed for the holiday Monday.
Puscariu’s mother, Aneta Puscariu, told police her daughter answered the door of their Gladstone home to a woman who came inside and shot her to death, according to the probable cause statement. Aneta Puscariu later identified O’Roark Griffin as the shooter from photographs, police said.
Roscoe L. Griffin, 62, told detectives he and his wife had been to see a therapist Friday in Great Bend. At that meeting, they discussed divorce and he said “he would not give I. Puscariu up,” according to the probable cause statement. Later his daughter telephoned to say her mother had just called to say she had shot and killed Irena Puscariu. Shannon O’Rourk Griffin then called her husband and told him the same.
On an online social networking website, Shannon Griffin describes her occupation as a retired training specialist for Space Shuttle Systems at NASA Johnson Space Center.
Gary Sechrist, superintendent for Unified School District in Lyons, said Roscoe Griffins worked as the senior aerospace instructor and Junior ROTC instructor for the Lyons school system and is a retired Air Force colonel. 
A phone listing for Roscoe L. Griffin in Lyons was disconnected Monday.
