Sunday, May 30, the Otis United Methodist Church celebrated its long history and said goodbye. The church will officially close at the end of June. The church has served the Otis community for over 126 years but dwindling attendance has taken its toll. The church was established in 1894 as the Emmanuel German Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1968 when the general conferences of the Evangelical United Brethren Churches and Methodist Churches merged, the Otis church became known as the Otis United Methodist Church.
