Alpha Kappa Master sees Mothers Day memories

LARNED — Janet Skelton welcomed all the members of the Alpha Kappa Master chapter to her home on May 11 for the final meeting before the summer break.  
A thank you note was read from Connie Carlton recipient of the 2015 Women of the Year recognized at the recent Founder’s Day meeting of all three chapters of Beta Sigma Phi. The international theme for the 2015-16 year is “Forever Sisters.”  
Perfect attendance for the year was conferred on Wadonna King, Marcia King, and Alice Clapsaddle.  
The Beta Book drill was on the Award of Distinction.  A yellow rose bush has been given to the Rose Garden in memory of long time member Marty Buster.  Further discussion was held in regard to the renovation of the Rose Garden for completion during the coming year.  
Installation of officers was held for the following officers for the 2015-16 year —  Connie Carlton, president; Alice Clapsaddle, vice president; Glenna Melkus, treasurer; Wadonna King, corresponding secretary; Margaret Larson, recording secretary; and Merlene Baird, extension officer.  
The new social committee announced the summer social on Thursday, July 9 at the home of Merlene Baird.  Program of the year was awarded to Marcia King for her talking bear reciting “The Night Before Christmas.”
Following the business meeting the Mother’s Day Committee presented the program introduced by Margaret Larson and Alice Clapsaddle, “I Remember Mama” with each member bringing a memento given to them by their mother that could be held in the palm of their hand.
A gift of a specialty ornamental grass was given to each member.  During the social hour, members toured the hostess home and enjoyed refreshments.
