LARNED — A prospective business that has contacted the Kansas Department of Commerce about vacant business space might fill the void left by the recent departure of Doerr Metal Products at 320 E. Eighth Street.
Courtland Holman, director of the Chamber and Pawnee County Economic Development Commission, said a business arrangement with the DOC allows businesses to inquire about opportunities in Kansas cities.
Holman has viewed the requirements of the business in regards to infrastructure, such as space, workforce, roadways and rails and a nearby airport.
“It’s a perfect fit for the location because the space meets all their criteria,” Holman said. “The business could fit right in and go to work.”
Doerr Metal Products is relocating equipment and is moving tank production to Hastings, Neb. Company President Bill Langford said the decision was based in part as a repackaging of the business to appeal to interested buyers.
