LARNED — The Pawnee County Commission met at 9 a.m. Feb. 1 for a regular meeting. Pawnee County commissioners Kathy Bowman; Donna Pelton; and Gary Caplinger, chair, were present. The following are approved minutes submitted by Pawnee County clerk Ruth Searight.
• Jim Haynes, Larned/Pawnee County zoning board, gave an update on zoning board hearings regarding the Rainbolt Addition; Conditional use permits; and Three Mile Zone.
• Darold Bussard, Pawnee County custodian, presented and discussed lawn quotes. Commissioners approved accepting the quote from Miller Lawns, Great Bend, as presented.
• Commissioners appointed Donna Pelton to another two year term on the advisory board for the Department of Corrections.
• Searight gave the commissioners the following for their review/approval — Olsson Airport Contract Copy; Map regarding Rainbolt Addition; Change Orders No. 2015-35, and 2015-37 thru 55; payables; draft minutes; agenda; and needed correction of the Jan. 18, 2016 minutes.
• Chuck Orth, Larned police chief. Scott King, Pawnee County sheriff and Josh Huff, EMS director present.
They gave commissioners updates on the new statewide computer system and the costs. New system will be running by Wednesday, as the cut over will be tomorrow. This is statewide, not just the county. The maintenance agreement is $19,000 to $20,000, and there is $109,000 in the city 911 fund. The phone, mapping, radio and GPS is much more advanced.
• Commissioners read, corrected and approved minutes of Jan. 25, 2016.
• Commissioners approved and signed change orders No. 2015-35, and 2015-37 thru 55.
• Commissioners approved and signed for payables.
• Scott King, Pawnee County sheriff, Commissioners signed a title for vehicles.
• Kurt Demel, Pawnee County highway administrator, gave updates on personnel, roads, bridges and other activities in departments. Informed them the permit for the FAS 280 Bridge is for 25 feet wide. He discussed the safety sign project.
Commissioners corrected the Jan. 18, 2016, minutes to read: “Discussed the 2015 Budget, and why it seemed to be over budget. After discussion, it was determined that the budget was not over, as additional vaccines were ordered and given to clients, and receipts more then covered the additional vaccines, and the department gave and provided more vaccines than the department had ever given.”
