Fire station matters on city agenda

The Larned City Council, meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 417 Broadway, will review a Community Development Block Grant application for the expansion of the Schnack Fire Station or for conversion of the former National Guard Armory into a fire station.

Also on the agenda: A request from Larned High School to use city right-of-way for a fundraiser; the 2009 city financial audit report by VonFeldt, Bauer & VonFeldt; an ordinance adopting changes in city zoning regulations, recommended by the Planning Commission; review and likely acceptance of the Kansas Corporation Commission Public Facilities Energy Efficiency Improvement grant; a request to place a video drop box on city right-of-way; a review of the issue of street numbers on houses, apartments and businesses; and the proposed roller-skating program and storage of skates.

Old business for the council will include a review of an appraisal of the armory; a Pride Committee proposal for a splash pad, and the Efficiency Kansas Program Partnership.
