LARNED — Central Kansas League baseball leader Larned started and finished fast while sweeping Hillsboro Tuesday. The Indians won 12-0 and 18-3 in a pair of run-rule victories. The Indians scored five runs in the first inning of both games.
Landon Erway led the offense with six hits and six runs batted in.
“Our goal is to play consistent baseball and keep our level high,” said Larned coach Chad Erway. “We want to play steady baseball. Everyone hit the ball up-and-down the lineup.”

First-game winner Evan Skelton threw a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts. Second-game winner Landon Erway struck out three batters.
“Our third and fourth pitchers Skelton and Erway looked like seasoned pitchers,” Erway said. “They are not overpowering, so they spotted their pitches and mixed in their changeups and cuvevballs. They did a solid job.”
In the opener, Erway drove in four runs with three hits. Isiah Perez had three runs batted in. Erway ignited a five-run first inning with a double that scored Mason Schartz and Evan Skelton. Perez singled home Erway and Colton Gladow drove in a run on a groundout for a 5-0 lead.
Erway singled home Schartz and Perez laid down a bunt that scored Evan Skelton for a 7-0 lead.  Gage Skelton hit a sacrifice fly and Erway and Perez drove in runs for a 12-0 lead.

Stetler led the second game with three hits and four runs batted in. Gage Skelton drove in three runs with three singles. Johnathon Herter and Erway each drove in two runs.
Stelter singled home two runs and Herter and Gage Skelton singled in runs in a five-run first inning. Stelter, Perez, Gladow and Gage Skelton drove in runs in a five-run second inning. Erway’s two-run triple ended the game on a 15-run rule. Stelter, Herter and Trey Kraisinger also drove in runs.
