LARNED — The Pawnee County Commission met April 11 in regular session. The following are approved minutes from the commission clerk Ruth Searight.
9 a.m. — Pawnee County commissioners Donna Pelton, Kathy Bowman and John Haas were present.
Commissioners approved the following items:
The Larned Area Chamber of Commerce application, as proposed, for the Santa Fe Trail Days Events.
The city of Larned signing Agreement for Professional Services for the Larned-Pawnee County Airport.
The First State Bank Young Savers Club using the courthouse lawn April 23.
Haas to attend the pre-conference workshop of the KCCA meeting, May 3, for $109.
Signed change order 2010-108.
10:15 a.m. — Bruce Gatterman, 24th judicial district judge, and Kay Schartz, court clerk were present.
Gatterman discussed the need for a new file cabinet on 4th floor for the “File Safe Project.” After discussion, commissioners approved a new file cabinet for approximately $5,700 to be paid from equipment reserve fund.
The fingerprint fee resolution was discussed, and Judge Gatterman thought something would get worked out in the language to make it work.
Gatterman discussed the Juvenile/Adult indigent defense attorney fees. After discussion, the court will try to get the attorneys to submit their bills more timely, and for the 2012 budget, these fees will be budgeted outside their district court budget.
Commissioners read and approved minutes of April 4.
10 a.m. — Kurt Demel, Pawnee County highway administrator, signed a road crossing permit. He gave updates on activities and plans. He discussed fuel costs.
11:10 a.m. — Donna Preisner, Pawnee County Extension Office, and Angie Murray, Larned Pride Program, made a presentation for The Camp Pawnee Project.
They discussed four different, possible grants. They discussed target population, marketing, options, campsites, Pawnee River, bathrooms, children and clubhouse. They will proceed with an application for one of the proposed grants.
1:20 p.m. — Rod Wheaton, solid waste supervisor, signed a payroll change form for Erik Jensen, Level III, to Step 2, effective April 10. He signed a payroll change form for Jeff Hansen, Level II, to Step 2, effective April 25.
Commissioners approved the landfill’s transfer station staying open until 3 p.m. April 16 during Larned City Wide Cleanup.
Wheaton informed the commissioners that May 7 is Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day. He informed them that Terracon will give quotes for three wells at the Larned site.
2:15 p.m. — Don Gaeddert, Larned city manager presented an agreement with Mark E. Williams, PE (consultant), for professional services regarding the Larned Pawnee County Airport, which the commissioners signed.
Commissioners approved paying $3,000 for swimming pool passes for 2010.
Commissioners discussed volunteer labor, child labor laws and the Department of Labor.
They approved and signed checks for payroll, bills and expenses.
They approved Elaine Salmans to attend the CDBG Grant Writing workshop.
2:45 p.m — 4:55 p.m. — The meeting was adjourned until April 18.
