A new temporary exhibit about music is now on display at the Santa Fe Trail Center, Larned, featuring items from the museum’s collection. Visitors can learn about the early development of music reproduction from the player piano to both cylinder and disc records. A few of the items on display include historic instruments such as an 1890’s Washburn guitar, a pianoette and a violin once owned by Larned’s “Comrade” Smith. This display also complements existing permanent exhibits focusing on music. The Santa Fe Trail Center is located 2 miles west of Larned on K-156 Hwy. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 9 am to 5 pm. It is closed on Mondays from Labor Day to Memorial Day. This special exhibit is included in the museum’s regular admission fees. For more information call the Trail Center at 620-285-2054.
